Mystery Apple on G.935 (Spring 2021)

A "mystery" apple for which we simply do not know the name.

There are varying degrees of mystery tree, that are possibly best described using the Rumsfeldian Scale of the mid-2000s:  the Known-Unknowns, Unknown-Knowns, Unknown-Unknowns, etc.

Sometimes we know the scion and not the rootstock.  Sometimes we know the rootstock and not the scion.  Sometimes both are unknown -- the dreaded Uknown-Unknown!

Dreaded, unless you are feeling adventurous.

How is it that mystery trees come to be, you ask?  Well, it's complicated and simple.

Short answer is:  human error.  There are simply numerous points and opportunities in the lifecycle of a tree, where positive identification can be lost in the nursery!  And sometimes it just happens.
