An attractive, highly disease-resistant apple, ideal for organic growers.
Wyken Pippin Apple Scionwood (Spring 2024)
A sweet, highly flavored English heirloom. Also known as Alford Prize, German Nonpareil.
A moderately vigorous, upright tree that has good scab resistance.
This apple is small and somewhat flat. The skin is yellow-green, speckled with russetted lenticels, and the flesh is dense and juicy. This is a highly flavored, aromatic apple that improves in storage.
Wyken Pippin is thought to have been brought to England from Holland in the early 1700's. Seeds were planted in the garden of Wyken Manor and the apple soon became a favorite with backyard growers in the Victorian era. This apple is an ancestor of Laxton's Superb.
