One of the most delightful apples in the world.

The tree is upright-spreading and vigorous.

A small apple blushed reddish-orange over light green, this one has a taste you won't forget. The crisp, coarse flesh has an intense, sugary flavor with subtle notes of pineapple. Amazing for fresh eating, great for baking, Lamb Abbey has also found favor with cider makers.

This is one of the most well-travelled varieties in our catalog. Lamb Abbey Pearmain first grew in the garden of Mary Anne Malcomb, in Lamb Abbey, Kent. It was a chance seedling sprouted from an American apple, Newtown Pippin, and is probably our first example of an English variety developed from an American one. It was first grown in 1804, and at 100 years of age, in 1904, it received the Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. Robert Hogg called it "one of the most delightful apples in the world."
