Regent Apple on G.969 (Spring 2025)

A modern late-season apple with excellent storage qualities. Also known as Minnesota 1430.

Regent is resistant to CAR but somewhat susceptible to fireblight and scab. The tree is vigorous, precocious, and reliably annual.

This is a medium-large apple with a tough, bright red skin. The flesh is juicy and crisp with a honeyed flavor. These apples are great for fresh eating, baking, and store exceptionally well. The flavor is often described as superior to that of Red Delicious, one of its parents.

Released in 1964, this cultivar was bred by the University of Minnesota, a breeding program that has also brought us Honeycrisp, Sweet 16, Triumph, and Keepsake.
