Lemoen Apple on G.969 (Spring 2025)

You are viewing a tree that will ship in Spring 2025. You can also find trees for Spring 2024.

A beloved heirloom apple from the Netherlands. Also known as Lemoenappel, Limoenappel.

The tree has a broad, open habit, and it is reported to be scab and mildew resistant.

A large, yellow, ribbed apple with some russeting, Lemoen has an elongated and tapering form. The flesh is white with a greenish tinge and the flavor, as the name suggests, is intensely acidic with just a hint of sweetness, like a lemon. The flavor mellows in storage.

This variety was raised in the Netherlands by J. H. Th. van den Ham, in the villiage of Lunteren, Veluwe, north west Arnhem. In 1899 it was awarded first prize by the Netherlands Horticultural Society, and it remains a beloved apple in the Netherlands and Belgium today.
