State Fair Apple on G.969 (Spring 2025)

You are viewing a tree that will ship in Spring 2025. You can also find trees for Spring 2024.

A modern apple that deserves a prize.

The tree is vigorous and very cold-hardy, tolerating temperatures as low as -40°F. It is somewhat susceptible to scab and mildew and very susceptible to fireblight. It is somewhat prone to biennial bearing.

Ripening in August, this is a really pretty apple; it is medium sized and is striped brilliant reddish orange over yellow. The flesh is creamy off-white, mildly subacid, firm, juicy, and aromatic. In contrast to most early apples, it stores well and is firm and sweet. State Fair is a great apple for starting your season early!

State Fair was developed in 1949 by W.H. Alderman at the University of Minnesota. It is one of the parents of Zestar!
