A very beautiful heirloom apple that stores well.
BurgundyPearl® Cherry on Krymsk 7 (Spring 2025)
A large, mid-season sweet cherry that crops heavily. Also known as NY 38L.
This pendant-style tree is a heavy bloomer and cropper, and it should be pruned aggressively to avoid overcropping. It is vigorous, hardy, and resistant to bacterial canker. BurgundyPearl® is not self-fertile, and it will require a second sweet cherry tree as a pollenizer. We recommend Sweetheart™ or Whitegold®, both "universal pollenizers" with compatible bloom times. (This variety is genetically incompatible with any tree in the S3S4 pollen group, which includes: Napoleon, Cavalier®, Somerset, Kristin, Royal Anne, Emperor Francis, Lambert Ulster, and Bing.)
Ripening just before Bing, the fruit produced by BurgundyPearl® is larger than that of Bing, firm and crunchy, with an exceptional mild and sweet flavor. It has an attractive translucent red skin, and it is about 12g in weight and 22% sugar. The long harvest period makes this a great tree for the home orchard. This is one of the "Pearl Series" cherries released by Cornell in 2008.
