Atago Asian pear tree produces an extra large, noticeably sweet and juicy fruit with golden brown skin. Atago pear tree has moderately vigorous growth habit, but very productive.  Fruit ripens in late-season, between Yoinashi and Shinko.  Unlike most Asian pear varieties the Atago pear will fruit and sweeten in cooler summer locations. It's easy to recognize because of its enormous size compared with other Asian Pears. An Atago pear was recently entered into the world record books for being the heaviest pear at 6 lb 8 oz. Atago pear tree has a long and profuse bloom period, making it a good choice as a pollenizer. Very little thinning required for large fruit and stores for months.
