An attractive, highly disease-resistant apple, ideal for organic growers.
Lovell Peach, Nectarine Rootstock (Spring 2024)
An industry standard peach seedling rootstock. . Also known as Prunus persica.
For standard spacing, Lovell has long been the go-to rootstock. In fact, after recent extensive trials in Geneva, NY Bailey and Lovell remain the most highly recommended peach rootstocks for the Northeast. Lovell is productive and resistant to bacterial canker, and although it is not as hardy as Baily, it is an adequately cold-hardy peach rootstock for traditional growing areas. It does not tolerate wet feet, and it is susceptible to a number of problems: crown gall, root knot nematodes, oak-root fungus, and phytophthora. Prune plums on this stock are subject to brown line. Trees will be full-sized, well anchored, and vigorous.
Lovell is compatible with peaches, nectarines, and apricots.
