A large, self-fertile prune plum. Also known as NY 65.363.1.
Polly is a vigorous, upright-spreading tree. It is productive and self-fertile, and an excellent pollinator for other European plums. This variety is even self-thinning, so producing consistent, fully developed fruit.
This is a prune plum with purple skin and firm, green flesh. The fruit is freestone and quite large. It ripens with Stanley and stores well. The flavor is sweet and aromatic. It is a great plum for fresh eating or processing.
Polly was developed by R.L. Andersen, J.P Watson, and K.G. Livermore. It was selected in 1977 and released in 1993.
