Sugar May Peach on Peach Seedling (Spring 2023)

Sugar May is an early, sweet, white-fleshed peach.

This is a vigorous, upright tree that has some susceptibility to to bacterial spot, but no other known disease issues. It produces large, showy flowers in spring, followed by one of the earliest white peaches available.

Sugar May is a large, white-fleshed peach with a beautiful deep red, low-fuzz skin. The flesh is firm, juicy, and sweetly aromatic with low acid. It is not as good as the later white peaches such as Eden or Sugar Giant, but it is 10 days before Redhaven, and it's the best white peach that you have had in 10 months! Make sure to thin this peach or you will get a beautiful crop of small peaches.

Sugar May was patented by Zaiger Genetics in 1991. Propagated from a cross of two breeding selections, its parentage includes O'Henry, Giant Babcock, Redwing, and an unknown nectarine.
