Sunrise Apple on G.214 (Spring 2024)

A delicious early-season cultivar from British Columbia. Also known as 8C-27-96.

This tree is vigorous, precocious, and productive. It has some resistance to powdery mildew.

Sunrise is a large, early-season apple with red stripes over a yellow background. Although it won't store for more than a couple of weeks in regular refrigeration, this is a great dessert apple with much more flavor than we typically expect from early apples. The flesh is sweet, juicy, and crisp, and the fruit hangs well on the tree for multiple pickings. This is an excellent early-season variety for backyard growers and U-pick orchards.

Including McIntosh and Golden Delicious in its parentage, Sunrise comes to us from the Summerland Research Station in British Columbia. Other varieties from this program include Spartan apple and the Stella and Sweetheart cherries.
