Murray Apple on G.210 (Spring 2022)

A scab-resistant McIntosh cross from Canada. Also known as Ottawa 628.

A moderately vigorous, spreading tree, Murray is upright and productive. This cultivar is a McIntosh cross, but it is highly resistant to scab, which is a major difficulty with McIntosh. It is also resistant to cedar-apple rust, but very susceptible to quince rust. It is recommended for organic cultivation.

The apple is a dark red blushed and striped over yellow. The white flesh is fine-grained, juicy, and offers a good balance of sugar and acid. Harvest is about a week before McIntosh, and the fruit will not store well for more than a month.

Murray was bred by a team of researchers in Ontario and Ottawa. It is a McIntosh cross that was released in 1980.
