BuenOs™ II Peach on Bailey (Spring 2025)

An early-midseason "donut peach" with excellent flavor. Also known as NJF 15.

This tree is midsized, spreading, and very productive. It is resistant to bacterial spot. Developed at the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, this is an very attractive early-midseason yellow peento or "donut peach." The skin is 70-80% red color on a yellow background. BuenOs™ II is a firm peach and it handles well with very little of the stem-pull problem associated with Saturn. The flavor is rich and spicy.

Flat peaches (and, in fact, all other peaches) were first cultivated in China, where they are called pan tao (pan means flat and tao means peach). In Chinese myth and culture, peaches are associated with longevity, and legend has it that "Peaches of Immortality" grew in the orchard of Xiwangwu ("Queen Mother of the West," the wife of the Jade Emperor). These ripened only once every three thousand years. When this happened, Xiwangwu would invite the gods to a banquet to celebrate the occasion. Anyone who ate the Peaches of Immortality would be granted not only immortality, but also eternal youth.
