Dayton Apple on G.214 (Spring 2027)

You are viewing a tree that will ship in Spring 2027. You can also find trees for Spring 2026.

An excellent disease-resistant, backyard apple. Also known as Co-op 21.

Developed for disease resistance, Dayton is very grower friendly and suitable for organic cultivation. It is resistant to fireblight and mildew, field immune to scab, and only slightly susceptible to cedar-apple rust. The tree is upright, vigorous, productive, and a reliable cropper.

Ripening early in the season, the attractive, glossy red fruit hangs well on the tree, but should be eaten soon after harvest as it does not store for more than a month. Crisp to the bite, Dayton is a delicious sweet-tart apple in the style of Honeycrisp.

This tree is named after Daniel F. Dayton, who led the disease-resistant apple breeding program for many years at the University of Illinois. Its parents are breeding selections whose ancestry includes Rome Beauty, Melba, Wealthy, and Jonathan.
