Early Golden Plum on Myrobalan (Spring 2027)

You are viewing a tree that will ship in Spring 2027. You can also find trees for Spring 2026.

A very early, yellow-skinned hybrid plum .

This tree is hardy and vigorous with an upright-spreading habit. It is very productive and should be pruned well, as it tends to biennialism if allowed to overcrop. Early Golden is not self-fertile, and it will need to be partnered with an early-blooming Japanese plum. Suitable pollen partners include Burbank, Ozark Premier, Shiro, Vanier, and Vampire. It is slightly susceptible to leaf spot and black knot.

Early Golden is one of the first plums of the season, ripening two weeks before Shiro. It is a small golden plum with a pretty, pink blush and sweet, rich flesh. It is firmer than Shiro and less easily bruised.

This tree originated as a chance seedling in Fonthill, Ontario, Canada, and it is likely a cross of myrobalan and Japanese plum (possibly Shiro or Burbank).
