Whitewater Peach on Lovell (Spring 2026)

A new white-fleshed peach from Arkansas. Also known as Ark. 856.

This is a vigorous tree that is resistant to bacterial spot but susceptible to brown rot. The wood and dormant buds have demonstrated hardiness to 2° F. Peach trees are self-fertile and do not require a second variety as a pollenizer.

Ripening early in the season (late June in west-central Arkansas), Whitewater is a white-fleshed, low-acid peach. This peach is attractive, mostly covered in red blush, and the white flesh is firm, slow melting, and very flavorful. The fruit is freestone and the flesh separates easily from the pit. It stores well for up to three weeks.

Whitewater is one of the most recent releases from the University of Arkansas peach and nectarine breeding program. Other contributions have been Souvenirs (yellow fleshed), White Cloud, White Diamond, and White River (white fleshed). Whitewater originates from a 2008 cross of White County and Souvenirs. It was selected in 2012 and released in 2021.
