Effie Nectarine on Lovell (Spring 2026)

A modern white-fleshed nectarine from Arkanasas. Also known as Ark. 805.

Effie is vigorous and productive, and has excellent resistance to bacterial spot. Trial plantings have established that the fruit buds of this tree will tolerate temperatures as low as 2° F. Nectarine trees are self-fertile and do not require a second variety as a pollenizer.

Ripening mid-season (July 16 in west-central Arkansas), this is a medium sized nectarine with attractive pinkish-red skin. The flesh is white, non-melting, and sweet with balanced acidity. This is a clingstone fruit.

Effie is the sixth nectarine released from the University of Arkansas breeding program which has also produced Arrington, Bradley, Amoore Sweet, and Westbrook. This program aims to produce peach and nectarine cultivars suitable for commercial production and sales. Effie was selected in 2008 and released in 2018. It is named in honor of Effie Gilmore, who worked in the UA fruit breeding program for 32 years.
