You are viewing a tree that will ship in Spring 2026. You can also find trees for Spring 2025.

A disease-resistant Japanese plum well suited to the Southeast. Also known as BY7401-5.

This is a very vigorous tree with good resistance to bacterial canker and bacterial spot. It is also resistant to plum leaf scald and brown rot. Byrongold is not self-fertile; it will require another Japanese plum for pollination. Bloom time is three days before Santa Rosa.

Ripening 12 days after Santa Rosa, the fruit is large, round, semi-freestone, and flavorful. These plums have yellow skin and yellow flesh.

Byrongold is an open-pollinated seedling of two breeding selections, and has Ozark Premier in its lineage. It was selected in 1976. Bred in Byron, GA, this plum is particularly well adapted to the humid Southeast.
