Rubysweet Plum on Myrobalan (Spring 2026)

You are viewing a tree that will ship in Spring 2026. You can also find trees for Spring 2025.

A highly-flavored, disease resistant Japanese hybrid plum. Also known as BY69-350.

This tree is not self-fertile, and it should be grown with another Japanese plum. It blooms about two days before Santa Rosa and suggested pollinizers include Methley and Bubblegum. Rubysweet is a vigorous, upright tree with resistance to bacterial spot and bacterial canker. It is also tolerant to plum leaf scald and brown rot. A great tree for the backyard gardener!

Ripening mid-July, the fruit is large, firm, and freestone, with an appealing bronze-red color. The flesh is deep red and highly flavored.

Rubysweet was developed from a 1968 cross of Mariposa and Methley. It was selected in 1973 and released in 1989 by W. R. Okie, who also developed Black Ruby and RubyQueen. It is especially well adapted to the growing conditions of the Southeast.
