Reine Claude Conducta Plum on Krymsk 1 (Spring 2024)

A unique, highly flavored red-skinned gage-type. Also known as Reine Claude d'Althan.

This is a midsized, upright-spreading tree with a dense canopy. It is healthy and productive, but it sets less fruit than other gages, requiring less thinning! Reine Claude Conducta is not self-fertile and it will need to be paired with another midseason blooming European plum. Recommended pollenizers include Oullins, Stanley, Rosy Gage, and Polly.

A highly unusual fruit, Reine Claude Conducta has pink-purple skin where other gages are green skinned. The yellow flesh is very sweet and juicy, and if allowed to fully ripen, it will be freestone. It ripens with Early Italian and Castleton, about three weeks before Stanley.

Reine Clause Conducta is a beloved plum throughout Europe. It was first raised in the 1850s in Bohemia, by Prochaska, the gardener to the Comte of Althan. It was poplularized in England by the Rivers Nursery.
