Veteran Peach on Bailey (Spring 2021)

A very cold-hardy, freestone peach.

A vigorous, reliable, and highly productive tree, Veteran is the most cold-hardy peach variety we offer. It produces a beautiful showy bloom and is moderately resistant to bacterial spot but susceptible to leaf curl.

The fruit is medium-large, flattish, orange-yellow with a slight blush, and quite fuzzy. It is freestone and peels well without scalding, with a rich flavor when canned. This is an excellent addition to a U-pick orchard or home garden, but it bruises easily, which makes it unsuitable for most other commercial markets.

Verteran was bred in Canada, at the Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario, and released in 1928.
