AU Rosa Plum on BY520-9 (Nematode Resistant) (Spring 2026)

A highly disease-resistant, self-fertile plum.

AU Rosa grows on an upright, vase-shaped tree that is highly vigorous and precocious. The leaves are dark green. It is an excellent trouble-free plum for the home orchardist or the commercial grower, with resistance to leaf scald, bacterial canker, bacterial fruit spot, bacterial leaf spot, and black knot. What more could you want! AU Rosa is reported to be self-fertile, but we recommend partnering it with at least one other Japanese plum for optimal productivity.

This plum will flower profusely in spring and produce a Early-season crop (about 48 days before Stanley) of medium-sized red plums. The flesh is yellow, excellent for fresh eating, and stands up well to handling and shipping. This is a great plum for the kids, or for local and roadside markets. AU Rosa is a cling-fleshed plum.

The "AU series" of plums comes from the breeding program at the University of Auburn in Alabama. AU Rosa in particular was developed to meet the need for disease-resistant cultivars that would perform well in the Southeast.
