Yoinashi Pear on OHxF 97 (Spring 2025)

You are viewing a tree that will ship in Spring 2025. You can also find trees for Spring 2024.

A fireblight resistant Asian pear that stores well.

Yoinashi is a vigorous, upright tree that ripens mid-late September in upstate NY, filling the gap between Hosui and Shinko. This is a modern cultivar that has good resistance to both fireblight and pseudomonas, the two diseases that most often afflict Asian pears. Yoinashi is partially self-fertile, and a pollenizer is recommended for full productivity. Crops should be thinned to maintain annual bearing and prevent limb breakage.

This is a large fruit with a russeted orange-brown skin. The flesh is firm, crisp, and juicy, with a rich and aromatic flavor. Yoinashi will store for up to four months. The name translates as "Good Pear."
