President Plum on Myrobalan (Spring 2022)

An excellent late-season, blue-skinned European plum.
This tree is very vigorous and productive; crops will need thinning to prevent limb breakage. The habit is upright and compact. It is resistant to brown rot and black knot, and somewhat susceptible to canker. President is not self-fertile, and it will be partnered with another European plum for best results. Recommended pollenizers include Empress, Italian, and Vision.
President is the last of the European plums to mature and a great way to extend your season. Ripening mid-late September in upstate NY, this fruit is a large, high-quality prune-plum with reddish-purple skin and deep yellow, freestone flesh. It is a dual-use plum, great for fresh eating or processing. The flesh is firm and it ships well.
President was introduced by Rivers Nursery. It was first fruited in 1894 and introduced in 1901.
