Northfield Beauty Apple Scionwood (Spring 2024)

A cold-hardy, all-purpose heirloom apple.

This spreading, upright heirloom is scab resistant and very cold hardy. It crops heavily and will require thinning to maintain annual production.

Ripening late August, Northfield Beauty produces large, asymetrical apples with a complex, tart flavor. The skin is red over yellow and the flesh is white and fine grained. The fruit hangs well on the tree. Northfield Beauty is an excellent apple both for baking, sauces, and fresh eating.

This apple originated in Northfield, Vermont in the 1800's. It was promoted by the famous pomologist Albert Etter as one of his favorite apples.

Clean vs. Regular

Our clean scion is harvested from trees grown on G.16, which is extremely sensitive to viruses. These trees would not have survived if the scion contained viruses. Our clean wood has not been lab tested. Regular = may contain one of the common latent viruses; this is not usually a problem and can be used with most rootstocks.
