An attractive, highly disease-resistant apple, ideal for organic growers.
Noel De Champs Apple Scionwood (Spring 2023)

A traditional bittersweet cider apple from France. Also known as Noel Deschamps, Noel de Champs, Noël des Champs.
The tree is precocious and productive. It is somewhat tolerant of most major diseases, but susceptible to fireblight. Noël des Champs is used exclusively for hard cider and calvados; it is not suitable for fresh eating.
Noël des Champs is a small apple, yellow suffused with a pink blush, and it holds to the tree well after ripening. It should be pressed within three weeks after harvest, which will be late in the season (Noël des Champs means "Christmas Fields"). The juice is douce à douce amère, sucrée "sweet to bittersweet, sugared."
This apple has been authorized for cider production in the Pays d'Auge since 1949. It was brought to the United States in 1948.
