Regent Apple Scionwood (Spring 2026)

A modern late-season apple with excellent storage qualities. Also known as Minnesota 1430.

Regent is resistant to CAR but somewhat susceptible to fireblight and scab. The tree is vigorous, precocious, and reliably annual.

This is a medium-large apple with a tough, bright red skin. The flesh is juicy and crisp with a honeyed flavor. These apples are great for fresh eating, baking, and store exceptionally well. Released in 1964, this cultivar was bred by the University of Minnesota, a breeding program that has also brought us Honeycrisp, Sweet 16, Triumph, and Keepsake. For a long time, Regent was thought to be a cross of Daniels Red Duchess x Delicious. DNA testing in 2020 confirmed the true parentage is Haralson x McIntosh. Regent looks very similar to it's parent, Haralson.

Clean vs. Regular

Our clean scion is harvested from trees grown on G.16, which is extremely sensitive to viruses. These trees would not have survived if the scion contained viruses. Our clean wood has not been lab tested. Regular = may contain one of the common latent viruses; this is not usually a problem and can be used with most rootstocks.
