Marin Onfroy Apple Scionwood (Spring 2026)
An heirloom bittersweet cider apple. Also known as Marin Oufrey, Marin Oufroy.
A very vigorous tree, Marin Onfroy is hardy and productive. It will need regular pruning to maintain annual production. The tree is susceptible to fire blight. This apple is used exclusively for cider; it is not suitable for fresh eating.
These apples are medium-small, striped red over a green ground. The flesh is white and spongy with a tendency to watercore. The juice produces a rich, full cider with notes of raisins. From WSU: Tannin (percent tannic acid) 0.19; pH 4.30; SG 1.053; Brix 13.2.
Marin Onfroy was brought to America from France in 1949. Its ultimate origin is the Biscay region of Spain.
