Krymsk 6 Cherry Rootstock (Spring 2026)
A very winter-hardy semi-dwarfing cherry rootstock. Also known as LC 52.
NOTE: The Krymsk rootstocks are too small to bench graft. They need to be lined out in the field and then chip budded in August.
Krymsk 6 will produce trees that are about 65-70% of the size of those on Mazzard. It is very winter hardy, precocious (more so than Mazzard and Colt, slightly less than the Gisela Series), and has excellent anchorage. This rootstock is sensitive to prune dwarf vinus and necrotic ringspot virus. Suckering will be moderate.
Krymsk 6 is compatible with sweet and tart cherries (Montmorency is not yet tested). The Krymsk rootstocks were developed at the Krymsk Experimental Breeding Station, Krasnodar Region, Russia. Krymsk 6 is a cross of Prunus cerasus and (Prunus cerasus x Prunus maacki).
