Nemaguard Peach, Plum, Nectarine Rootstock (Spring 2025)


A peach rootstock commonly used in California.

Nemaguard is resistant to root knot nematodes and lesion nematodes, but it is susceptible to ring nematodes and bacterial canker. It perfoms best on well-drained soil and has low tolerance for calcareous soils. This rootstock has excellent anchorage and produces few suckers. It is compatible with peach, nectarine and plum. Trees on this stock are vigorous and productive.

Nemaguard is a 1949 selection from the USDA, and it was released in 1959 as FV 234-1. Its parentage is P. persica x P. davidiana.
