Crimson® Topaz CV. Apple on G.11 (Spring 2024)

A delicious disease-resistant dessert apple that is easy to grow. Also known as Topaz.

This tree is precocious and vigorous. Generally healthy and resistant to scab and mildew, Crimson® Topaz cv. is an excellent choice for the home gardener who wants an easy tree that produces an apple of the highest quality. It is suitable for the organic grower; its only weakness is a moderate suscepibility to fireblight. Thinning is recommended to maintain fruit size.

The fruit is an attractive crimson and orange flushed over a yellow background. The flesh is crisp, juicy, and sweet-tart, very similar to Honeycrisp. It is slow to brown when cut, and it makes a great salad apple.

Crimson® Topaz cv. was developed in the late 1990s in the Czech Republic. Its parents are Vanda and Rubin, both of which have Lord Lambourne in their parentage. This offspring has the aromatic acidity of Lord Lambourne, but in a crisper packaging.
