Valor Plum on Myrobalan (Spring 2026)

A very sweet, late-season prune-plum.

This tree is a reliable cropper, vigorous, spreading, and somewhat thorny. It is resistant to bacterial leaf spot but susceptible to black knot. Valor is not self-fertile and it will need to be planted with another European plum for pollenization. Suitable partners include Stanley, Italian Prune, and Vanette.

Valor ripens late (third week of September in upstate NY) and over the course of several weeks. It is an excellent, very sweet blue-skinned plum with large and firm fruit. The yellow flesh is semi-freestone. It is a good plum for fresh eating, processing, and packing and shipping.

Valor comes from the Vineland breeding program in Ontario. It is a cross of Imperial Epineuse and Grand Duke.
